DRIFTWOOD TRAVELLER

Our Champagne Stallion
Driftwood Traveller – 2nd Cross Australian Stock Horse (C2-178782), 1st Cross Quarter Horse (A1-9879), registered Champagne with Dilutes Australia.  He will also be registered ANSA once he is working under saddle.  He is by Trincada Gambling man (Arab enthusiasts will know some of the Trincada horses, such as the great Trincada Strike).  His bloodlines include Thoroughbred (Nasrullah, Never Say Die, Hyperion), Arabian (Argos, Indian Gold, Rissella, Rissalix, Skowronek, etc.). Quarter Horse (Rare Chex, Sugar Bars, M.B.J. Charmer, Impressive [no HyPP])

Driftwood Traveller stands 15 hands and, like our other stallions, has extremely  correct conformation: great legs, all angles and lengths correct, short back, lovely top line, good length of rein, attractive head, good athletic look to him, excellent hooves, etc.. He has been shown lightly for State Supreme, Supreme at Colourama and National Supreme and judges are always impressed by his wonderful conformation, his great movement and his lovely temperament.  He is extremely well mannered and quiet to handle.

Driftwood Traveller is heterozygous for Champagne (he has one copy of the gene) so only half his foals will be Champagne – fortunately he is such a lovely horse, even those that lack the remarkable colour will still be excellent types of horses for showing and working.  His Champagne foals will most likely be Amber Champagnes (the same colour as him).  Unlike the Cream gene that causes Palominos and Buckskins, there is no difference in the ‘look’ of Champagnes if they are homozygous for the gene, so there is no equivalent of Perlinos or Cremellos.  Also, unlike the Cream gene, Champagne does dilute black, so you don’t get the equivalent of Black Buckskins (or ‘Smokey Blacks’), you get a beautiful shade called ‘Classic Champagne’.  If you breed a Cream dilute (Palomino, Buckskin, Perlino, Cremello) to him and the foal gets both the Cream and the Champagne gene, you get a range of very unusual pale colours called the Champagne Creams – we have an Amber Cream filly on our sales page and she is a pale cream, with coffee coloured legs, mane & tai and blue/green eyes – quite outstanding!

Suitable for breeding halter horses, show hacks & galloways, campdrafters, hunters, polo and polocrosse, and just good riding horses.  Being A1 registered with AQHA means if you breed your A1, A2, A3, or Q mares to him, the foals will be registrable for either A1 or A2 registration with AQHA.
